Your Soul Has Your Back

Your soul is a fundamental part of you and it’s constantly feeling and listening to everything that’s happening in and around your life. It’s almost like a best friend standing by your side. If your soul sees that something’s not right or you’re heading for a negative turn, it’s going to do something about it.

One of the most common ways your soul will send a message to you is through your dreams. That’s why I often recommend that you keep a dream journal. Other times, your soul will bring a certain person into your life who may have the answer you’ve been looking for. This is your inner guidance system at work. Like that good friend, your soul always has your back.

I remember a time when a family member became quite ill and I had to step in as the sole caretaker. You can never really be prepared for these situations. When you find yourself in the middle of it all: planning doctor visits, familiarizing yourself with different medications, learning physical therapy techniques and coping with cumbersome equipment, it’s overwhelming.

My role as caregiver extended into months. While I felt happy to be helping my loved one, I also started to feel physically exhausted. The longer it went on, the more I ignored myself. Worst of all, I neglected to check in with my soul as I continued to run on autopilot.

All the signs were there: missing work deadlines, spending restless nights worrying and hearing people urging me to take time for myself. I tried to ignore them, but they just got louder and louder. Remember, your soul has no patience when you’re doing anything that’s harmful to yourself.

When I finally did check-in, my soul gave me strength to continue. It also gave me the courage to share my plight with others. Suddenly, people who I never expected, stepped forward and offered to pitch in. My soul gave me a further push to graciously accept their compassion.
