Our Nation, Our Future: Truth, Life, Love, Brotherly Love and Kindness!

In 2018 a Brookings Institute report by William Frey projected that by 2045 the European shapers of this country will no longer be a majority, for it will become a nation with a mixed population in which Latinos, Africans, Asians, and mixed peoples will have a slight majority.

Concern about this change has seen the rise in laws limiting access to the minority and the rise of white supremacy movements and groups. People fear change because they lose control over their role in society. The greater the change, the more they feel that the change is being done to them. They think things are being taken from them, stolen. It’s natural that some among the majority want to act in a defensive or aggressive way to protect the status quo.

The internet has become a powerful tool for online propaganda. One of the common ways to divide us is by confusing making a mistake with being a mistake; and doing wrong with being wrong; and by tagging others with anxiety-producing epithets.

Here are some of Edgar Cayce’s teachings concerning the United States of America:

“(Q) Is there any reason to feel that our democracy will fail in the United States?

“(A) The people may fail – the democracy will not fail.” (257-203)

This is a curious answer. How could the democracy survive if the people fail? Perhaps Cayce meant that democracy as an ideal will survive, but as it is applied by people, it may be lost. In another teaching Cayce said that if the USA fails to reach and keep its ideals, then humanity will look for another population to take up the banner. (3976-15)

In this next teaching, Cayce explained that the forces behind the rise and fall of Rome were the spirit that motivated the citizens.

“The spirit IS the foundation that made the empire of Rome powerful. Only did it begin to fade, and its power begin to lessen when it became overburdened with the desire for self-aggrandizement, self-glorification, and forgot that it was its brother’s keeper. So it is in this land of your own in the present [USA], that is built upon that FREEDOM of speech, FREEDOM from those things that would make men afraid. But freedom means rather the individuals working in cooperation according to the dictates of their conscience as to the MANNER of worship, but the WORSHIP ITSELF of Truth, Life, Love, Brotherly Love and Kindness! And these are the basis of this land [USA]; and its union of strength lies in KEEPING such as the motivative forces in the lives and hearts and minds of those as they labor one with another.” (1151-12)

The spirit motivating any activity predicts the outcome – and the spirit motivating activity can change, thereby losing the original spirit.

Robert Krajenke wrote in his book, The Psychic Side of the American Dream: “America was conceived in a spirit of a great vision. The nation was established during one of the rare moments in history when the level of consciousness was raised high, and the people were united and the leaders honest. Yet, at the same moment that our great national strengths and virtues were developing, so, also, was a pattern of racism, greed, and selfishness. And thus, it seems that the nation, as well as individuals, must undergo periodic cycles of cleansing and regeneration, until the negative aspects are cleansed from the national soul.”

After the storming of the USA Capitol on January 6, 2021, Arnold Schwarzenegger (38th Governor of California) compared the forging of a powerful sword to the forging of a great nation: “The more you temper a sword, the stronger it becomes. The more you pound it with a hammer and then heat it in the fire, then thrust it into cold water, and then pound it again, and then plunge it into the fire and the water, and the more often you do that the stronger it becomes. Our democracy is like the steel of this sword. The more it is tempered, the stronger it becomes. Our democracy has been tempered by wars, injustices, and insurrections. I believe, as shaken as we are about the events of recent days, we will come out stronger because we now understand what can be lost. We need to look past ourselves, our parties, and disagreements and put our democracy first. We need to heal together from the drama of what’s just happened. We need to heal, not just as Republicans or as Democrats, but as Americans.”

Edgar Cayce insisted “America MUST pray more and act like it prays.” (1598-2) If we don’t, Cayce indicates that humanity will search for a new nation to carry the banner of brotherly-sisterly love, mutual respect, and collective cooperation. Cayce is hopeful: “The United States are capable of such … we may expect this to begin the recovery of stabilization in every phase of its experience and endeavors.” (270-29)

We are in another period of change. Change brings uncertainty and fear into the minds and hearts of the citizenry. Unrest stirs efforts to stop change. We are seeing anxiety among the European settlers who began the USA and their descendants. They have been the majority population for 244 years, now that is changing as a growing number of non-Europeans join the USA population.

How can the USA Accommodate a Multicultural Society?

Multiculturalism is the existence of diverse racial, religious, and cultural groups with values, behaviors, patterns of thinking, and communicative styles that allow for a cooperative unity under an overarching ideal held by all.

Remember, Cayce stated that America needs to maintain:

“Truth, Life, Love, Brotherly Love and Kindness! And these are the basis of this land [USA]; and its union of strength lies in KEEPING such as the motivative forces in the lives and hearts and minds of those as they labor one with another.” (1151-12)

Our nation is not only important to us, but also to all humanity. If we fail, the world loses hope for a way to govern people as a united, multicultural country with personal freedoms.
