The Occupational Hazards of Being a Medium

Are some of you thinking about pursuing a career as a medium? I must warn you that this unique life could come with its occupational hazards. People will definitely look at you a little differently than if you worked in any other profession.

I remember when I was doing a workshop some years ago in Andover, Massachusetts. As I walked into the venue, I noticed two lovely, elderly ladies standing in front of one of the event billboards looking at my portrait. I felt quite flattered. At least until I heard the woman say, “Well, he looks normal!”

People do get a little nervous when they meet me and hear that I’m a psychic medium. I’m not sure what a medium is supposed to look like, but I guess they expect me to be carrying a crystal ball or looking a bit more mysterious.

Sometimes my family and close friends get a little jumpy when I’m around. Normally when someone leaves the house, wouldn’t you say, “I love you. Stay safe and drive carefully”? But when I say it, I get a very different reaction. “Why are you telling me to drive carefully, John!? Are you picking up something?” Or I’ll call one of my friends and say, “How are you?” And they’ll sound startled and say: “Why!? Are you psychically feeling something?”

Okay, I’m really joking around with you. I love my life as a psychic medium and I especially love the part where I get to teach what I’ve learned about intuition and the soul, and interact with all of you. I have the most fun sharing stories with you and helping you to uncover all the intuitive tools and abilities you have within you. That’s my favorite part, in fact. Teaching you what I know, so you can go out into the world and share your intuitive abilities with others.

There’s nothing to be nervous about when you’re around psychic mediums like myself. I’ve been doing this work for more than two decades and every day I’m learning something new. I’m just like you, really. I was born intuitive. As a matter of fact, that’s the title of my first book that I wrote back in 2003: Born Knowing. Here’s what you may not know. We were all born knowing and intuitive.
