22 Great Ideas For Your Next Girls Day or Girls Night Out!

February 13th is Galentine’s Day!

We love any excuse to celebrate with our gal pals, and we’re grateful for the TV show, Parks and Recreation, to give us another excuse for a girlfriend gathering!

February is the month of love. But there is so much more to love then just romantic connections. Our female relationships are what see us through the ups and downs of life. They nurture us, support us and fill our cups. They are the rocks we lean on when the going gets tough or romantic relationships fail. And they are the ones we love to party with when it’s time for a celebration!

We’re excited to circle up with the beautiful goddesses in our lives and wanted to share a few ways that we like to honor these special female friendships.

Here’s our list of top things to do with your girlfriends to celebrate Galentine’s Day:

1. Throw a Galentine’s Day party.

This could be a laid-back brunch or a fancy dinner. Feel free to customize it for what feels best for you. You could host it at your house, or gather at your favorite restaurant. Plan love-themed food and decorations. Since the guys aren’t invited, feel free to get girlie and go a little crazy with the pink hearts, flowers and glitter. If you want to go all out like Leslie Knope (the lead character on Parks and Recreation) you can send out frilly invitations and write love notes of appreciation to each friend. During the party plan a few bonding activities or games to get to know each other better. And then send everyone home with a thoughtful gift to show how much you value their love and friendship.

2. Gather the goddesses for a ceremonial woman’s circle.

Find a location (preferably outside) that feels special and grounds you to the earth….a forest clearing, a sunny beach, inside a teepee, or on a mountaintop. Have everyone bring an item that feels special to them to add to an alter you can create in the center of your circle. Include earth elements that stimulate the senses, like a lit candle, crystals, feathers, a bowl of water, diffused essential oils and some soothing music. Go around the circle and have each person share from the heart what it’s like to feel a part of this sisterhood. If desired, use a deck of oracle cards or an oracle card app and do readings for each other. If they feel comfortable, encourage each person to open up and reveal what love means to them. Then, discuss how each person can support the others’ expansion of self-love.

3. Organize a yoga class and mimosa brunch.

Ask a yogi friend to come lead a relaxing morning yoga class. Then finish it off with some social bonding time over a light meal and a refreshing mimosa.

4. Plan a spa day together.

Book a group mani/pedi, find a local reflexology shop or visit a nearby day spa. Or search out a Korean spa close by for hot and cold plunges, a deep scrub down and a salt room soak. Sometimes there is nothing better then relaxing with your ladies!

5. Get out into nature together.

Go on a hike, take a walk on the beach or explore the woods together. Take off your shoes to practice Earthing and get grounded. Feel your connection, not only to each other, but to all living things.

6. Sign up for a wine and paint party.

Gather up the girls and let your inner artist shine! Enjoy a Girls Night Out tapping into your creativity while you unlock talents you may never have known you had!

7. Be daring and set up a boudoir photoshoot together.

Set up some fun backgrounds or visit a professional photographer’s studio as a group. Bring along some champagne and cheer each other on as each person takes a turn posing for the camera. Encourage each other as you each strut your stuff and step into your feminine power!

8. Have a snuggle puddle movie night.

Dress up in your jammies, pop some popcorn, and provide lots of pillows and blankets while you snuggle up with your besties and watch your favorite chick-flick!

9. Plan a clothing swap.

Tell all your friends to start going through their closets and clear out the old. After all…one woman’s junk is another woman’s treasure. Have everyone lay out and display their gently loved clothes in one big room. Set up a few full length mirrors and have a private area for trying on outfits. Provide drinks and light appetizers so everyone can socialize while building a new wardrobe.

10. Take a cooking class together.

Find a local establishment that hosts cooking classes and take over the whole kitchen. Learn how to make a dish you’ve never tried before. Have you ever wanted to learn how to make sushi rolls? How about delicate French pastries? Or a delicious Thai yellow curry?! There is no better time then now to tap into your inner Julia Child.

11. Have a pajama party sleep over.

Sometimes the best Girls Night Out is a Girls Night In! Order pizza, open a bottle of wine, get cozy and talk into the wee hours of the night. If you want to relive those fun sleepovers of your youth, have everyone bring a sleeping bag and all curl up together in one room to tell ghost stories and share secrets.

12. Have a cookie exchange.

Why save cookie exchanges for Christmas? They’re a great way to gather your friends together any time of the year! Have everyone bring a few dozen of their favorite heart-inspired treats and let everyone leave with an assortment of delicious LOVE!

13. Volunteer together.

There’s no better feeling then giving to those in need. And what better way to give then with your friends by your side? Gather your gal pals and help out at a food bank, a shelter or a soup kitchen. You’ll not only feel grateful for the time together, you’ll leave with a heart full of love for those you served.

14. Enjoy a craft day together.

Get your Martha Stewart on and get crafty! Catch up on your scrapbooking, make some beaded jewelry, take a pottery or candle making class together, or have a dream board making party. Have everyone bring their stash of art supplies and go crazy getting creative!

15. Go see a comedy show together.

Who doesn’t love a good laugh?! And who better to laugh with then dear friends?! Check out a local comedy club or surprise your group with a “Don’t Tell” comedy night. Let your hair down and allow yourself to laugh until your cheeks hurt!

16. Take a Girls Trip together.

Do you love to ski? Or is it time to get out of the cold and travel to a warm and sunny beach somewhere in Mexico? You can recruit that friend with the minivan and all pile in for a road trip or camping excursion. Or book a last minute airline deal and escape for a weekend getaway. Traveling with your girlfriends can make some of the most memorable moments of your life!

17. Have a dance party.

Whether you crank up the tunes at home, visit the local club, or take a salsa or line dancing class together…go get out and DANCE! If you feel like stepping out of your comfort zone, tap into your wild side by channeling your inner J. Lo and try a pole dancing class together. We double dare you!

18. Go wine tasting.

A tried and true girls outing. If you live near wine country, you’ve got it made. But if not, map out a few local establishments that have an extensive wine offering and hop from one to the next. Rent a limo, designate a driver, or take an uber to be safe, then hit the trail and practice your sommelier skills.

19. A progressive dinner.

This is a great activity to do with your neighborhood friends. Pick a theme and then designate each person to be responsible for a different course. Start at one person’s house for cocktails, move to the next for appetizers, stroll down the road for the main course, and then end up at the last house for dessert.

20. Have a game night.

Have just a few friends over to play cards or Yahtzee. Or invite the whole crew of girls over to play charades or Celebrity. One of the best and easiest games for a larger group is Bunco. Gather the ladies into groups of four and roll dice to try to get the most points. After every round you switch groups, so it’s a great way to spend time with each person. Throw a few bucks into the mix for prizes and let the competition begin!

21. Be adventurous.

What kind of out-of-the-box activities do you have in your area? Every tried fire twirling? Ax throwing? Bungee jumping? Indoor sky diving? ATVing? Ziplining? Aerial arts? There’s no better time than the present to try something new….and no better people to share it with, then your girlfriends!

22. Host a manifesting ceremony.

What are you looking to create in your life? What is it that you want to call in? Your girlfriends can be your biggest cheerleaders and help support you to reach your dreams. Maybe you’re looking to manifest more abundance, better health, or the love of a soulmate. Together you can create a ritual to help you set your intentions and call in your desires. For instance, if you are looking for love, have each person contribute something to a small alter with items that represent a soul connection. Include some rose quartz to hold the space for unconditional love. Diffuse some essential oils to stimulate self-love. Allow each person to repeat a few positive affirmations to state their goals and confirm their intent. Journal about what it is that you are looking to create. Be specific. Invite your girlfriends to share their dreams aloud. When you hold the space for each other you are confirming to the Universe that it is so!

We hope that this list serves you and your girlfriends well and that it helps you to create memories and experiences that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Please share with us what it is that you like to do to celebrate your girlfriends on Galentine’s Day…or any day!
