New Year, New You: How to Heal Thy Self in 2020

Happy New Year Everyone! It’s time to put away the holiday gifts, become truly present and set our intentions and ideals for 2020.  According to Edgar Cayce, “One of the influences that must first be builded, then, is to first know thy ideals – spiritually, mentally, materially – then, what thy destiny is depends upon what you will do with thyself in relationship to thy ideal” (2021-1).  So let’s deeply connect within and renew our Ideal Self, physically, mentally, and spiritually.  As a simple exercise, write out your ideals for each of these aspects of your Self, and especially be clear in what you would like to accomplish for each in this year.  According to Cayce, true healing must be accomplished on all of these levels.  This is why he is considered the Father of Holistic Medicine. “Know that all healing forces are within – not without! These applications from without are merely to create within a coordinating mental and spiritual force.” (1196-7).  So let’s dive right in to the top tips from Edgar Cayce to help you have a healthy 2020!

Past Life Regression/Hypnotherapy. Cayce often referred to a person’s past lives as having a profound impact on their present situation. Typically, there were mental/emotional patterns and lessons related to a past life encounter, and by learning the lesson one can grow in spiritual consciousness. I recommend finding a qualified, experienced therapist who has been trained in past life regression therapy. They may help identify underlying patterns and help guide you to insights on mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. “Begin with the study of Self, which may be best done by suggestive forces to the body through hypnosis.” (3483-1)

Daily Meditation & Prayer. The most common recommendation given was daily meditation.  There is a preponderance of evidence suggesting that meditation and mindfulness can have many positive effects in physical and mental health.  So what is the difference between meditation and prayer? “Prayer is the concerted effort of the physical consciousness to become attuned to the consciousness of the Creator, either collectively or individually! Meditation is emptying of self of all that hinders the creative forces from rising along the natural channels of the physical man to be disseminated to those centers and sources that create the activities of the physical, the mental, the spiritual man.” (281-13)

Move It or Lose It! Exercise is wonderful and necessary according to the Cayce readings, especially outdoors in the open air right after we awake in the morning, especially deep breathing exercises.  In 2020, I’ll be teaching the morning exercises for all of the A.R.E. conferences in VA Beach and you can join me in the Meditation Gardens to exercise.  In the meantime, check out my YouTube videos (Dr. JP Amonte, Heal Thyself) on morning and evening exercises.

When asked how we can renew the body, the readings answered “This depends upon the manner in which there has been care of the body…. for there must be kept a balance in the activity of the glands through the body…This may be done better, as we find, by foods and activity in the bodily exercises in the open. There is nothing more in order for the renewing of the activities of the glands of the body, as we find, than the use in the proper manner of the atomic iodine – Atomidine, especially if there is kept a proper balance in the diet…” (920-2) If you eat well, you’ll feel well. The typical Cayce recommended diet was eating 80% alkaline-forming foods to 20% acid-forming foods.  Try to get locally grown produce when available, and preferably one meal each day should be mostly raw.  I love juicing, and designed a specific, detox recipe based on the readings that you’ll find in the YouTube videos.  Another great remedy mentioned is Iodine, a necessary element for the thyroid gland, hence why salt is iodized.  It’s also useful as a disinfectant when used topically.  Please reference Edgar Cayce’s Quick and Easy Remedies by Elaine Hruska for directions on using Atomidine, and I highly recommend Baar Product’s Nascent Electrified Iodine.

Get rubbed the right way!  This year, be sure to take time and get a good massage, you’ll thank me later.  Edgar Cayce often recommended hydrotherapies, massage and manipulation (adjustments) “…for the hydrotherapy and massage are preventative as well as curative measures.  For the cleansing of the system allows the body forces themselves to function normally, and thus eliminate poisons, congestions, and conditions that would become acute throughout the system.” (257-254) Hydrotherapy treatments may include Hot Baths, Epsom Salt Baths, Showers, Steams, Saunas, or Enemas/Colonics. Many of these treatments can be done at home, and are very effective if followed by massage, especially by a loved one with a caring intention.  So pick up any of Baar Product’s massage oils, lotions, or balms, and check out my YouTube video on home massage and enjoy!
